To keep my approach simple and focused, I narrowed down accelerated career success to four specific behaviors. I call this my FAST-TRACK FORMULA. I now use this formula as the foundation for my 1-on-1 coaching.
CURIOUS PEOPLE ARE NATURAL EXPLORERS.... They are always on the hunt for better ways to approach tasks and challenges, whether it's within their roles, fields of interest, or even their company's operations. They realize the significance of continuous learning by taking courses, talking to the right people, asking questions, conducting research, and so on. This research extends to understanding what it will take to achieve their career goals. It might mean volunteering for a cross-functional project to broaden their skill set or presenting at an industry event to raise their profile. Do CURIOUS people like to get feedback? Absolutely! In fact, they ask for it. They value insights whether positive or not, recognizing their importance in guiding their career plans.
COURAGEOUS PEOPLE ARE SMART RISK-TAKERS....They are not risk-takers for the thrill of it; it’s part of a plan. Their CURIOSITY equips them with the knowledge needed to take action, even if it means stepping outside their comfort zone. They feel the fear but confront it head-on, recognizing that the potential rewards far outweigh the perceived risks. Realistic stretch goals are always part of the plan. Maybe it means a bold career move or pitching an innovative new idea. They show confidence by asking for what they want, always backed by solid reasons. Setbacks? They are not viewed as problems but opportunities for learning, driving them forward to their next big challenge!
RELENTLESSLY COMMITTED PEOPLE…. MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.
They are driven, setting clear goals and milestones, while always maintaining focus. They have a plan for the short-term, maybe long-term, and remain dedicated to achieving them. They put in unwavering effort to excel in their roles while simultaneously making steady progress toward their goals. This combination gets them noticed. They value ownership and accountability for both successes and setbacks. Not hitting milestones? They’ll figure it out and course correct using CURIOSITY and COURAGE as needed.
MINDFUL PEOPLE HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET OUT OF THEIR HEADS.....
They observe their thoughts and emotions regarding actions, goals, challenges, and successes without judgment. This MINDFULNESS frees them from self-doubt, fear, and distractions, enabling them to fully engage in CURIOSITY, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT without the added “mental chatter”. They stay grounded in the present moment, concentrating on actionable steps instead of worrying over future outcomes or past problems. This empowers them to make well-informed decisions, build emotional resilience, and fuel their career journey with laser-sharp determination!
